If it was your pinky and ring finger, it was not Carpal tunnel but the cubital tunnel that was compressed...and that is in your elbow, so it's not a suprise that working on your elbow helped. It likely won't help someone with carpal tunnel. Glad you found a non-surgical solution...keep in mind that lots of people undergoing PT also find non surgical solutions to carpal tunnel syndrome. However, some of us, after trying all the conservative approaches, still need to have surgery. If there was a one thing fixes all solutions, this board wouldn't exist!
