Fran, like you said, you don't seem to have much choice left as your hand feels like its dying. I think that pretty much sums up what you have to do. I know surgery is scary for all, but there are times we are forced to do something. Try not to worry (I know its hard to do in reality). I personally know people who had surgery and are so happy they did. They had great outcomes and are still doing fine.

Unfortunately there are some people on the board who either didn't have good doctors, or good care,
so the outcomes were bad. And a few people who over-did things after surgery have paid a high price for impatience (that would be me if I had surgery)..

We don't hear as much about the good surgeries because the successes move away from this board and go on with their lives. Who needs a message board for advice, information, or support after a good outcome? See what I mean? So don't let the bad stories scare you. I'm sure the posters on this board who've had bad experiences do not mean to scare others.. They are only looking for answers and support to get through the hardships they now face.
