Fran,
I certainly understand your fear, as most of us do. The studies I've read have shown that the surgery is "successful" for more than 90% of all people. Of course you fare better with a good, qualified surgeon along with good followup care.

I imagine that a much greater percentage on this board will have had poor results. Those on this board are generally still going through their own trials and tribulations. Do poor results happen? Sure. But probably not near as great in number as you'll see here.
