Hi Tony:

I posted my results earlier but as a guitarist I was concerned about the same thing. Was having exact symptoms you describe (numbness at night and when playing--especially in F) and I too am a software engineer and live on the computer. I had the nerve conductor study done and it was no big deal. It showed moderate/severe CTS. I had the release surgery in October and was back playing gingerly in about 4 weeks and experienced some discomfort for certain chords and fingerings. I am now back 100% back to normal and playing my 12-string, classical, and acoustic with no numbness or discomfort at all. It is nice to be able to complete a song & entire gig and still feel my hand. For me it worked and from everyone I've known the've been happy with the results. I didn't bother with Cortezone shots or anything, I just got it overwith and am glad that I did.
