Hey Maxine,

I've been posting post-op stretches. I've had RH open release, and these stretches have been helpful to me for that. Exercises/stretches can be helpful for prevention also. The stretches I've posted, as well as others posted here or elsewhere, can be helpful to "warm up" your hands to start the day or prepare them for "work". They can also be helpful to prevent stiffness after activity.

With respect to night pain/numbness, the best tool I've found were night splints that were prescribed for the purpose of keeping the wrist straight and consequently keeping the carpal tunnel as "open" as possible. When my symptoms were at their worst I went from waking up as much as every half hour to sleeping through the night, within about four days by using the slints at night.

Good luck.

Adam.
: Does anyone know of any exercises to relieve the pain of CTS? Like when I wake up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain and numbness I shake my hand, or stretch it out--but I don't know what I'm doing and I'm wondering whether there might be some exercises that could help.

: I noticed a posting about post-op exercises--would this also apply for people who have never had surgery?

: Thank you.

: Sincerely,

: Maxine
