when first trying the new trackball or thumball mouse, use your left hand. this is what I did with a thumball, like the Rocket. it was awkward with either hand so my left did as well as the right. (to avoid CTS to the left I do much less on the computer now.) I found my hand was bent at an angle which didn't seem good--and finally here is the point of my story!--having learned to work the new mouse with my left hand I found there was no problem at all to switch to a regular mouse which I'm now using. and still with the left hand though it's been more than two months since surgery. right hand is still healing.
