If you had the same surgery as mine (open release) pain like you describe seems excessive, although I had no "scar issues". If it doesn't seem alright, maybe it isn't. I'd discuss it with your Dr. I was told it can take up to a year to regain full strength in the hand, but by 15 weeks I had pretty good recovery.

An 8 month old is demanding, not therapeutic... but you know that by now. Maybe your Dr. just didn't want to saddle you with another "task". Some people seem to do okay without it.

Anyway, although I had physiotherapy, my "homework" is linked below. At 2 weeks post-op I started very slowly, very deliberately stretching. Uncomfortable? Yes. Painful? No. Hope they're helpful.

And again, I'd inform your Dr. of your concerns.

: I had surgery almost 15 weeks ago on my left hand. My doctor said I should rub vitamin E oil 4 weeks after my surgery to break up the tissue. At my 6 week checkup he notice the scar was noticable in which the dr. directed me to massage deeper and harder. I did this for a couple of week massaging it as hard as I can when I notice that my wrist was hurting. Now at 15 weeks, I still have pain on ny left wrist. I cannot bend it without hurting it. In addition, my dr did not refer me to therapy as taking care of my 8 month daughter is therapy enough according to my doctor
: Is this normal pain that will eventually disappear within time? PS. Test shown left hand had severe CTS then the right hand.

• Hand/Wrist stretches. - I've used 'em since surgery.
