: : : : Hi Melani
: : : : Glad to see you back on the board :-) What's the hand report? I very much hope things are going your way.

: : : : I got some good news today in that I'm being referred back to the guy who did my cts surgery. I don't know how long I'll have to wait but I can live with the cubital tunnel stuff meantime. The alternative is to pay £2000 for one operation with private surgery by the same surgeon. I think I can hold on & have it done by him for free. I may not actually be at the surgery stage yet anyway. Now that I've got my employer where I want them, it'll hopefully slow down the progress of the condition too. I've got a nurse coming on Friday to do a workstation assessment so that's good news too & my employer will have to pay for it. :-)

: : : : Guess this will mean the emg is cancelled LOL. Oh what a shame! :-) 3 doctors so far have said I've got Cubital Tunnel Syndrome so that will do me fine without the electronic diagnosis.

: : : : I might just write to that arrogant 'I am God' hand surgeon & tell him what I thought of him. Best way to meet that man would be when you're anaesthetised as his communication skills left a lot to be desired LOL :-D

: : : I got my impairment rating back from the designated doctor, 19%,whole body. My treating doctor gave me 16%. I'm supposed to be elgible for SIBS (Supplemental Income Benifits). My lawyer is sending paperwork to understand where I go from here. I saw my treating doctor today and he is requesting another surgery to release the nerve. The second emg showed the nerve still trapped, even after two surgeries. I go to my hand specialist Friday to see what treatment is going to happen or if he's doing the release. My doctor said he is requesting the Plastic Surgeon to do the release but I'd rather have the hand specialist.

: : : Wow I would wait for the free surgery also and I'm glad your dealing with it as well as you are. To be honest and from where I stand right now, I wish I could turn back time and forget the CT surgery. I know that others are successful, but as all knows, mine didn't turn out right. The station assessment will be a good thing. Some employers forget were human and not robots. Evelyn keep us updated on how things are going to go for you. You know I wish you the best. Melani

: : Sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you Melani. I certainly hope so. I'm very interested in the bit about the nerve not having been released despite two lots of surgery. Did you get a further explanation for that?

: : When you go to the hand specialist Friday, be sure & ask lots of questions. What I do is write everything down in the few days before the appointment & take the piece of paper with me as I usually forget to ask something otherwise. Having said that, the last surgeon I saw didn't let me ask anything LOL I was back out the door before I had a chance to heat up the seat I was sitting on!

: : Good luck Melani. I'll be thinking of you.

: I've asked every doctor that I've been too and I get the big "I don't know", lol...Today my treating doctor made the remark that he believes that my nerve may not be cut, he thinks it's RSD thats set in, but the problem with that is that the fingers were numb all the time since the first surgery, then the wrist and palm got worse. If my fingers hadn't of been dead feeling then I would say, ok, you might have the right answer. But being that the pain and numbness were so intense after the surgery and never got better, I think the RSD diagnoses comes after the cut nerve. I think his remark was a doctor saving doctor frame of mind. When I asked him today why the nerve wasn't released after the second surgery, his brilliant answer was "I don't know"..So the answer to that question is somewhere out there in la-la land. No one seems to know. P.S. This question had been asked to 6 doctors now. Melani

How have ypu been?I didn't scare you away did I?
