: Four minutes? I don't know Evelyn, yet even when doctors here (in the states) couried my MRI, X-rays, etc., to a peer and the files had not arrived, the docs spent much more than a mere 4 mins. with me. Because the stuff they needed had not arrived, they would ask my Q's, place calls, and have other info. faxed over before the end of the appts.

: It's pretty bad/sad when your Mother is sitting there and she was able to clock how few mins. were spent on your appt.

: I'm by far an expert in this stuff, yet, it seems to that both Susie and Linda are right. You are better off being seen by and treated by someone else.

: I'm sorry that you waited so long for the appt. to have it turn out so disappointing.

: Also, I had an NCV, and, if you are able to read up on it beforehand, and also go in as calm and as relaxed as possible, that can help. It also is helpful when the room temp is comfortable and the person conducting the test is a conversationalist or chatty :) It may seem odd, but the conversation does help ease the situation.

: If your Mother is able at the time, maybe she can go with you for the test. People and/or discussion most familiar to you are great for stress reduction.

Hi Anne
I've already read quite a bit on nerve conduction studies & come to the conclusion that they're not very reliable. If I get back to the guy who did my hands he may not even bother wasting time doing them. He didn't bother before my cts surgery. Like I've said before, far better to read the patient than the machine when it comes to some of these tests - I know this because I'm a registered nurse.

Shouldn't imagine I'll need my mother or anyone else there LOL She was only there this time because the round trip to the hospital was 4 hours. I rarely get time to spend with her, so we just used it as an opportunity to spend some time together & have lunch.

It would take far more than an emg to stress me out. LOL I'm quite sure it's absolutely nothing to get even remotely tense about. I've had far worse things done to me.

: : Thanks all for your good wishes regarding my long awaited appointment with the hand surgeon today. The man granted me precisely FOUR Minutes of his precious time! TRUE. My mother was outside & timed it! It became clear that because I'd had cts surgery by another surgeon that he knows personally, he really didn't want to treat me. He said he'd been unable to trace my file as the referral hadn't stated who the cts surgeon was.

: : I told him that my GP had referred me to him despite me asking to go back to the guy who did my hands in the first place. She told me he wasn't doing much hand surgery these days. According to this guy that was BS.

: : I've just written to my GP, telling him that I want to go back to the guy who did my cts surgery, even if I have to wait another 4 months. There's no way on this earth that this arrogant man I met today, will come anywhere near my arms with a scalpel.

: : He did however refer me for nerve conduction testing so I'll at last find out for myself whether or not it hurts LOL I'm not holding my breath as to when the appointment will be though!
