A couple of things that really helped me were keeping it iced and elevated, that really helped with the pain control. Also I dug out my loose sweatpants, clothes that I could gently pull on, buttons and zippers are heck the first week or so.
I made a plate of sandwiches that I cut in half the night before so I had something to snack on when my hubby was at work, you need stuff you can just reach into the frige and grab.
