Hey Brenda,
I had simple endo ct surgery, but because they made a mistake and gave me a general instead of light sedation I was at the hospital for most of the day. From 10 am to about 4:30 pm. If they are just twilighting you it will be much shorter.
They did make me "strip down" and put on one of those stupid gowns, but the most distressing thing for me is that I have very bad eyesight and they do not let you keep your glasses, and you can't wear contacts.
My arm was completely wrapped up and in a sling when I was finished and my husband helped me dress, I'm sure a nurse would have helped me if my hubby wasn't there.
2 days post-op I had to go to the surgeons office to have him check it out, that's just his policy. I could not drive at that point as I was still wrapped to my fingertips. It was probably about a week before I felt comfortable enough to drive. But remember, everyone is different and your surgery is more than mine was.
Something I read on this board that really helped me through recovery was wearing loose clothes, especially pants. Dig out all your sweats and wear them the first week or two. Zipping and buttoning pants are impossible for awhile.
