My surgeon explained the open surgery, the endoscopy, which is what I expected to have, and the newer mini-open which he says is safer. He said (and I had read)that the endoscope was used to look inside the wrist and the surgeon tried to hold down the nerve so it wouldn't be severed. I decided on the surgery because my hand/arm got worse rather than better when I stopped using the computer mouse which I think was responsible for the problem. And if it did get better after many months then I figured it wouldn't take much to make it flare up again. I have 3 books by Pete Egoscue www.egoscue.com and am doing exercises for RSI. I hope this will take care of any other problems caused by posture and computer work, etc. I realize the CT release will only help the median nerve at that spot. The nerve conduction test did show entrapment in the carpal tunnel for my right hand. My left was normal.
