I'll refresh you with even more bad news....Those tests are expensive and uncomfortable and inaccurate. While, on the other hand, there are easy, fairly quick tests that your doctor could do right there in the office on your first visit that would be far more reliable (about 90%). Yet why don't they do this? My opinion is that they would have to learn how to do them since it requires them testing your flexion and hand strength ect. It also would require more of their time, and as we all know, doctors are SOOO important! They also couldn't charge as much for the quick physical test.

So, just keep in mind, if you go see a hand specialist, most likely they are a sugeon and surgeons only know surgery as an answer. Go educate yourself so you can hold a conversation and ask questions. Don't ever take a docotr's word on the topic of RSI's. Even the specialists can stink. Look at the post about holding babies and such below. Her doctor is a Nuerosurgeon - highly educated specialist right? He told her to use HAND WEIGHTS! Good God, that went out many years ago!

: Thanks so much Mandi. This Board has a lot of info. I was feeling confused when I left the doctor today. The affected fingers on my left hand are somewhat swollen. I have tried all the things I was told to do. I now wear my brace only at night as the three fingers stay numb 24 hrs a day. I will feel better when I talk to the hand specialist on Tuesday. I wonder why these doc order these tests! My fingers really hurt when I was going the tests!
