: Hi Melanie,

: I had the bier block during my surgery. They put
: the cuff on your raised arm and pump and pump it
: and pump it. It did not hurt pain wise but I did
: feel alot of pressure on my arm. They had given
: me an IV earlier to relax me and I am sure it did
: help. The cuff did pinch my bicep which did also
: leave a small bruise mark. I was awake the whole time during the surgery and I was talking to the nurses and the anethesiologist while the surgeon
: did his thing. Overall, it wasn't painful, it was just a bit uncomfortable. With the bier block, I only had to spend 30 minutes in recovery
: room and then got to go home. I would do it again if I had to choose. Hope this helps!

Thanks...I appreciate you sharing your block...I'm nervous, but thats nothing unusual for me...I feel a lot better...When I asked the nurse how painful it was, she told me "I can't tell you, there will be no pain", so with my wild imagination, it's gone nuts...I'm a big chicken, when it comes to the unknown.....You made me feel better just hearing from someone thats been there and done it....thanks a billion...Melani
